Rain chances slowly increase from the south

A major upper low continues to spin across the Arklatex region. This system has been cut off from the main jet and not moving much. As a result, rainfall has been excessive just south and southwest of our region. High presssure to our north has remained just strong enough to keep the deeper moisture to our south. This pattern will hold for about another 24 hours and then the northward moisture advance will win out.

After today's beautiful weather, showers will likely occur across areas south of Louisville on Friday and Saturday. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to even see a few showers around Louisville Friday and Friday evening.

Better rain chances invade all of the region by Saturday night and will continue into Sunday.

The year is flying by.... Autumn arrives September 22nd, 5:18pm EDT.

Enjoy today's beautiful weather...

Quiet September Weather Continues...

Overall, some very quiet last summer weather is expected to continue across the area. The pattern the past couple of days has featured an upper-level (cut-off) low across the eastern US. We've been on the far western flank of this feature in a location with decent amounts of dry air in the mid/upper atmosphere so showers and storms chances have been quite small and that trend will continue the next 2 days or so.

A strong piece of jet energy moving across Canada will split with one chunck moving south towards the northern plains states and closing off ... and the other chunck moving southeast across southeastern Canada. This Canadian enegy with act as the "kicker" for the eastern U.S. low.

For us... not much happening !! Dry air in the mid-levels will keep weather conditions quite dry the next 5 to 8 days. As a matter of fact, a large, strong surface high will plunge southeast from St. James Bay towards the Northeast U.S. early/mid next week. This will continue to give us a relatively dry easterly/southeasterly sfc flow.

Bottom Line..... Quite weather to continue with warm afternoons and pleasant nights.

Later,
Jay
