It's the first HIGH RISK severe threat of the season... Not for the viewing area but regions to our west and southwest. The NewsChannel 32 viewing area has a MODERATE RISK of of severe storms.
Bottomline, there is still a decent threat that another round of severe weather will sweep the NewsChannel 32 viewing area later tonight.
We'll have to be on guard all afternoon into the early evening - because if discrete storms do develop, with increasing wind shear values in place they would likely rapidly go severe. It still appears that more widespread storm activity will get here later tonight into the overnight hours. Even though it will be later at night, there will still be adequate instabilty and extreme wind shear over the area to support severe storms.
It looks to me that our storms will come in the form of line segments with some supercells and bows along these line segments. Of course some wind damage will be likely with these line segments but isolated tornadoes will also be quite possible with any bows / supercells that do manage to form over our area.
People are urged to stay up on the latest forecast, and keep either a weather radio or the TV (tuned to NewsChannel 32) on later tonight when going to bed in the event warnings are issued for your area.
